Oxford Cantilever Walkway Canopy

Ideal for narrower play areas or covered walkway shelters, the Oxford twin hoop, trellis arch design is one of the most popular in our range of canopies. The cantilever format of columns and arches gives the advantage of removing one run of columns whilst also enhancing the visual appeal of the structure. The lean-to roof format can be used to butt up to existing walls or over sail existing roofs and gutters without creating an additional roof valley. The roof of the canopies can either be clad with flame retardant waterproof PVC fabric or polycarbonate.

Size: The maximum width for the Oxford Cantilever is around 3.5m, but each canopy is fabricated to suit the clients requirements
Applicable Standards: UKCA Marked structural steel fabricated in accordance with BS EN1090, designed in accordance with BS EN 1990,91,92,93,97 for Wind & Snow Loadings (replaced BS6399 Pt.2 - Wind & Snow Loadings; BS5950 - Structural Use of Steelwork in Buildings)
Roof Shape: Curved Cantilever
Polycarbonate Cladding - Option 1: Flame Retardant (Class 1) Structured Opal (opaque) or Clear Polycarbonate with a 10 year proportional guarantee against discolouration from sunlight
Polycarbonate Cladding Fixing: Two part Aluminium Glazing Bar with rubber gaskets to allow for thermal expansion of the roofing sheets and secure fixing
Fabric Caldding - Option 2: Waterproof, Flame Retardant, white PVC coated fabric with a 10 year proportional guarantee against premature degradation. Also available in other non-standard colours
Fabric Cladding Fixing: The fabric roof cladding sheets are tensioned into, and retained by, our own aluminium cladding retention rail system
Standard Finish: Shot blast, zinc primed, and polyester powder coated to any standard BS/RAL Classic colour
Rainwater Goods: Colour coded Aluminium gutter included as standard with downpipes terminating at ground level
Foundation Fixings: Chemical or cast in-situ anchor bolts into concrete foundation pads

We are very pleased with how they look and that they will be a ‘boon’ for our children in terms of shade and rain protection. However my main reason for writing is that I am very pleased with the way in which your staff Martin Sears and Timothy Barclay, have carried out the project. The space we used for the canopies is a main thoroughfare to our playgrounds. They have managed to keep this are very tidy and safe throughout the week so that we can function as a school without any inconvenience. This was mainly due to Martin and Timothy, who in addition to doing such a good job have worked exceptionally well, ensuring ‘business as usual’ and have been very friendly with staff and children. Students, staff and governors are delighted with the result and the extra panels that were fitted over the Easter break have made the project complete. We have had a variety of positive comments about the finished structure. I wanted to thank you personally for the care and professional manner in which you set about surveying and quoting for this canopy. We were particularly impressed by the way that you attended to particular requested and necessary changes need to the basic structure (repositioning uprights to avoid doors, gutters, flashing etc). The team who built the canopy were so careful and thorough in their work and the finish of cement areas, paving slabs etc is excellent. For example any minor details which could not be done during erection such as painting small scratches. This is most commendable to have this after sales service. Frequently Asked Questions

What are Building Regulations and will they affect me?

In relation to our canopies Building Regulations specify the standard to which they should be built i.e. strength, fire rating of materials etc. Again it is advisable to contact your local Building Control officer(s), as a rule of thumb any canopy over 30m2 will require conformity to building regulations and an application will need to be made although this figure can be lower. Most of our structures are supplied conforming to the requirements for these regulations as standard and generic sets of structural calculations can be supplied free of charge to demonstrate to Building Control the integrity of the proposed structure and foundations.

What further peace of mind can you give us before we place an order?

We are a sound, family run company with a high credit rating, which has been manufacturing and installing modular steel buildings for over 45 years. A great deal of our work comes from repeat business and recommendations from existing customers (references available on request). We aim for 100% satisfaction 100% of the time. As well as being CHAS (Contractors Health and Safety Scheme) accredited, Construction Line registered we are a approved contractor to many Local Authorities and large building contractors. You will be allocated a dedicated Contract Manager who can be contacted to answer any questions that you may have at any point in the process.

What colour can the framework be?

Each canopy framework is supplied in the colour of choice from the standard RAL range. A match for most school colour schemes can be found with that range if required.
