Forest Park Secondary School

Forest Park SEN School in Totton wanted to have a new ramp installed to the newly refurbished modular building and at the same time replace the aging timber-framed shelter.

Working closely with Hampshire CC Property Services and the suppliers of the new steel ramp, we had the challenge of designing a foundation layout to accommodate the yet to be fitted access ramp which we would be installed at the end of the Summer Holidays – the mono-pitch canopy would have to wait until half term.

The foundations were designed and laid out on a plan by Clovis and installed by HCC’s appointed contractor and we waited until the half term to land the canopy on site and inside 3 days installation was completed and the ground was reinstated.

The Keston mono pitch canopy was supported on CHS columns and oversailed the modular building and the remaining timber canopy to provide protection from the elements with our gutter terminating into the existing shelter.

Will our concerns over children and staff safety be addressed prior to installation?

We have been working within schools for many years. All contractors are Clovis approved and CRB checked. Full risk assessments are carried out prior to starting installation taking into consideration your requirements and safety fencing is erected wherever needed at no additional charge.

Do you fix your canopies directly onto tarmac?

No, all canopies are fixed on to concrete pads or bases as the structures can lift out from the ground if not fixed into a suitable concrete base due to the uplift created by wind acting on the roof area.

Are your canopies usable all year in all weathers?

Yes unlike some solutions that need to be taken down in the winter or during high winds our canopies are designed to be useable all year round. The cladding materials as well as providing shade are also waterproof so that they can be used during wet weather.

What guarantees are offered?

Subject to appropriate cleaning and maintenance we offer the following guarantees:-

Framework – 25 years against failure within design, wind and snow loadings
Polycarbonate – 10 years against discolouration from sunlight
Fabric Cladding – 10 years against degradation / failure from sunlight

We have had a variety of positive comments about the finished structure. I wanted to thank you personally for the care and professional manner in which you set about surveying and quoting for this canopy.
